NHL Black History Celebration
The NHL mobile museum is traveling to various cities across North America showcasing the NHL’s black history. It made it’s stop in St Louis during All-Star weekend and Melissa DiMarco caught up with retired NHL player Joel ward and Co-Curator Kwame Mason to find out more about the NHL’s black history.
Round 3! Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders face off in the MLS Cup for the third time.
For the third time in the last four years Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders will face each other for the MLS Cup. Seattle won the first match up in the 2016 MLS cup final and Toronto won in 2017.
Toronto 's captain Michael Bradley will be looking to win his 2nd MLS cup with the team in three years.
Washington Nationals are World Series Champions for the first time!
The Washington Nationals have one the world series for the first time in franchise history. They completed a historic playoff run by beating the Houston Astros in an exciting 7 game series. They are the first team in history to win all four road games in the world series.

2019 MLS Cup will feature the Seattle Sounders FC and Toronto FC
Seattle Sounders are into the MLS Cup after a huge upset victory over LAFC. They will host Toronto FC in the MLS cup. This will be the third time in four years that these two teams will face each other.
This will be the MLS Cup rubber match with Seattle winning in 2016 and Toronto winning in 2017.
Michael "Pinball" Clemons is the New Toronto Argonauts GM!
Pinball Clemons is perhaps the most legendary figure in the Toronto Argonauts history. He won three grey cups as a player and one as a coach. He has also served as the teams president and CEO.
He will now be tasked with rebuilding the 2017 Grey Cup champion Argonauts who have missed the playoffs the last two seasons.
Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse is preparing his new team
Nick Nurse has been coaching basketball at a high level since 1989. 11 of those coaching years were spent in Europe and he is bringing that international experience to team Canada. It is an exciting time for Canada basketball as they get ready to try and qualify for the 2020 Olympics.
Nurse is bringing his outside the box coaching style to team Canada. He is prepared to try different lineup combinations from 3 point guards on the court at once to 3 guys six foot ten and taller on the court at once.

The NBA finals is being shown in over 200 countries and for the first time ever it is being held outside of the United states. Making Toronto the center of the basketball world. St. Louis Blues are the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Champions
For the first time in their 52nd season the St. Louis Blues are Stanley cup champions. On January 2nd the Blues were in last place and then turned their season around going 30-10-5 to end the season. They carried that momentum into the playoffs and became Stanley cup champions beating the Boston Bruins 4-1 in game 7.

McDavid nominated for the Hart Trophy again
At only 22 years old Conor McDavid is arguably the best player in the NHL. He is hoping to win his second Hart Trophy (Most Valuable Player). The competition is tough in this category and McDavid pays his respect to the other two nominees Sidney Crosby and Nikita Kucherov.
Aleksander Barkov has won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy which is awarded to the most gentleymanly player. He finished the season 10th in points and a new panthers single season record for points. He only recived 4 minor penalties and 8 penelaty minuets this season which are the least among the NHL's top 50 scorers.

Boring Sean Monahan is a fun guy of the Ice
Sean Monahan is Nominated for the Lady byng trophy which is awarded to the most gentlemanly player. Sean is known for his calm domineer on the ice which even inspired a twitter account called " Boring Sean Monahan". He lets us know if he has that same domineer of the ice.
Most Valuable Canadian!
Vancouver native Lemar Durant was very emotional after being named the most valuable Canadian of the 2018 Grey Cup. Durant said " I really just appreciated how much the coaches had faith in me and my quarterback had faith in me and believed in me to get the job done even though in this game itself there was ups and downs".
Ekman-Larsson gets nominated for the King Clance Memorial Trophy
Oliver Ekman-Larsson ( King Clancy Memorial Trophy – Humanitarian Contributions)- On top of being one of the top Defenseman in the NHL Oliver has been a champion in the community. He has donated $250,000 Boys and Girls Club in Arizona and he has purchases a suite each season at Gila River Arena and invites branches of the club to allow the kids the opportunity to watch games and then meet him after every home game
Bo Levi Mitchell Wins the Grey Cup MVP and looks forward to the NFL!
Bo Levi Mitchell has been dominating the CFL for the past three years. He has won the CFL's most outstanding player of the year award twice out of the last three seasons. " The last couple years have all came together right now" is what Mitchell said after winning this years Grey Cup and Grey Cup MVP. Since winning the 2018 Grey Cup Mitchell has worked out for 5 NFL teams and is scheduled to workout for 2 more.
NHL'S MVP!
Alexander Ovechkin tells Melissa how it felt to win the Stanley cup for his team, The Washington Capitals, for the first time since the team joined the NHL in 1974. Ovechkin also received the Conn Smythe Trophy which is awarded to the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs.
20 years and counting!!
Almost 40 years old and playing in his 20th NHL season Roberto Luongo continues to play in the at a high level. By the end of the season he will be 2nd all in games played by a goaltender. Here is a throwback to the 2017 NHL awards when he told me that the drive to win the Stanley cup is what keeps him so motivated and playing."

Ottawa REDBLACKS are ready for the playoffs!
The Ottawa REDBLACKS have named Brad Sinopoli as their nominee for Canadian player of the year. Sinopoli led the CFL in receptions and finished third in receiving yards.
Sinopoli and Ottawa finished first place in the east division and have earned a spot in the Semi-finals. They are hoping for a repeat of 2016 when they won the Grey Cup.
