"Melissa"- The Neurotic Host/Actor and Story Producer
"Melissa" is the workaholic host and story producer of the entertainment show "Out There", working on both sides of the spotlight. She struggles to balance her crazy career and draw the lines as a journalist, living vicariously through other peoples lives and as an actor, living as someone else - through it all she tries to find her own sliver of happiness.

Anything that can happen, and does as Melissa and her co-workers try to produce the weekly television program based on interviewing celebrities.

She maybe sassy and gutsy but she's always struggling to keep her journalistic integrity. The broadcaster drafts her out for "win-a-date" contests, she competes against Mary Hart types in the red carpet trenches and battles the publicity machine. It's a wonder the show ever gets to air.

Her two worlds are always colliding, the whirl-wind wining and dining with the stars and her not-so-glamorous private life. Her traditional family is always nagging her to get married. Her quirky, hanger-on friends are obsessed with meeting the celebrities she interviews. And, at the end of it all, her grueling 24/7 production schedule has turned her into a dateless workaholic searching for something more in life.
